Spirit 004 — Spirit of Humility
Held quietly, given no name.
Pale roots rinsed clean in a bowl of water, cloth washed and left to dry in still air, small fruit gathered from where it fell rather than picked at its peak. Spirit of Humility opens as it ends -- orris and vetiver under a veil of ambrette and soft musk, a breath of pear and rose gathered close, one steady register held from the first hour to the last. Quiet, steady and unadorned.

It has outlived every argument about its importance.
The Exposed Roots
The strength was always underneath, unseen and unpraised.
The Earth
Everything tall answers, in the end, to the ground.
The Ginger
Warmth without display. Heat that asks for nothing.
The Fruit
The tree does not eat its own fruit. It simply gives it.
